Outreach to Republican Voters

      Simply put, the letter from Mary Fisher was an unabashed attempt to show that Bernie Moorman has support within the Republican Party.  The campaign was aware we would have a huge hurdle to jump here: Bernie was perceived by many local republicans to have caused the resignation of Republican Judge-Executive Clyde Middleton, Bernie's nemesis on the Kenton County Fiscal Court.  

      In retrospect, using Mary Fisher's endorsement may have had drawbacks.  She is not a resident of Covington (she resides in Edgewood).  And, she was eased out of her position in the Republican Party because of her pro-choice views.   Yet, the commitment was made by her and the campaign produced the letters addressed to 1,000 of Mary's closest friends in Covington.
